An antique Chinese, Late Qing dynasty, glazed porcelain sculpture. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The artwork represents a seated figure of Guanyin, a character of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese mythology, a bodhisattva or a deity who appears mainly in a female form, saving people from all sorts of disasters. She is dressed in flowing robes, and holding a vase with the elixir of life, and a rope with a tail in her hands. The hair, eyes, eyebrows, and several elements are covered with glaze in a black shade. The lips and several elements are covered with glaze in a red shade. Marked with an impressed stamp, on the bottom. Dehua porcelain, also known as Blanc de Chine, is a type of white Chinese porcelain made at Dehua in the Fujian province. The special characteristic of Dehua porcelain is the very small amount of iron oxide in it, allowing it to be fired in an oxidizing atmosphere to a warm white or pale color. Total weight: 604 g.
