An antique mid-19th century terracotta sculpture by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, 1827 to 1875, a French artist who often worked on commissions by Napoleon III. The figurine represents a mother with a child in her arms, and a dog sitting at her feet. Marked R on the bottom. Signed by the artist and dated 1875 on the base.
