A pair of antique 19th-century Imperial Russian chestnut wood side chairs without armrests. Winter Palace design. Sable legs with claw-and-ball feet of Newport type. Concave oval back with a carved top and bottom, wreath and crown motifs. A hand-painted griffin decorates the top of the back. Soft upholstery made of light tapestry fabric with a floral pattern. Provenance: Purchased by the owner from the Dr. Armand Hammer Estate directly. Collectible Neoclassical And Empire Furniture.
