An antique 19th century hand-colored lithograph A Home on the Mississippi, lithographed and published by Currier and Ives, American, 1834 to 1907. The lithograph depicts an idyllic landscape with a road with light carriages near the Mississippi River and a steamship in the distance. On the right side, there is a wooden house with a group of people chatting nearby. Note: Currier and Ives was a New York City printmaking business that operated between 1835 and 1907. Founded by Nathaniel Currier, the company designed and sold inexpensive, hand painted lithographic works based on news events, views of popular culture and Americana.
