An antique French 19th century Louis XVI patinated bronze and ormolu statue of a young woman in ancient robes, attributed to Pierre Louis Detrier, 1822 to 1897. In one hand the woman holds a torch. She is leaning on an altar modeled as a circular fluted column decorated with floral garlands and has two doves intended for sacrifice to the base. In ancient times, doves were dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite as a symbol of innocence and love at the base. Signed to the base.
