An antique late 19th-century Austrian hand-painted porcelain vase by Ernst Wahliss. Curved round shape with pronounced neck, black body, gilt ornamental rims. The obverse depicts an angel with a torch. Crowned hallmark EW Turn Vienna, handwritten marks 140, 5640 are on the bottom. Ernst Wahliss was a leading Austrian porcelain and ceramics retailer active from 1863 until 1929. In 1894 the company acquired its own factory in Turn-Teplitz, nowadays Czech Republic.
