Created for Russian Seasons by Sergei Diaghilev, the premiere took place on June 13, 1911 in Paris, on the stage of the Chatelet Theater. Alexander Nikolaevich Benois was a Russian artist and writer, painter, graphic artist, set designer, art historian, art critic, and memoirist. The most famous representative of the Benois artistic dynasty, one of the main figures of the Silver Age; co founder along with S. P.
