An antique Tyrolean school full-size violin featuring a delicate body producing a unique gentle chamber sound. A significant role in the history of violin making was played by the Tyrolean school in the person of Jacob Steiner who put into his creatures all the purity of the children's treble combined with the mobility of the flute. Steiner's instruments are incredibly meticulous. His violins are comparatively rare today and are in great demand among authentic musicians. The violin has a steep rise of vaults immediately from the edges which turns into a flat area. The wood on the decks is of high quality, and the primer, and varnish are reminiscent of the Cremonese masters in color and consistency. Dates to the end of the 18th century. Provenance provided by current owner: My name is Marina Kosican and I am a professional violinist from Eastern Europe with 44 years of violin playing experience. This full-size (4/4) violin has been with me all these years. I studied music at the Rostropovich School of Music and graduated from the State Conservatory of Rimsky-Korsakov. Was working in the Orchestra of the Opera and Ballet Theater in St.-Petersburg and the Orchestra of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg. My violin has traveled with me on tour to Norway and immigrated to America with me, where she continues to please the ear with its unique melodious gentle chamber sound hidden in her petite and delicate body. Being a unique masterpiece, it holds its own secret: the more you play it, the more incomparably beautiful voice (can't even simply call it the sound) you get. This unique instrument was found in abandoned museum storage in the 1950s of the 20th century and acquired by my teacher, who played it until the end of the 70s when the instrument was passed into my hands. I've played it ever since.
