A vintage Chinese decorative bonsai tree. The leaves and flowers are made of cut glass and gemstones, such as white jade, rose quartz, and carnelian. The branches are string wrapped. The tree is placed in a soft jade pot. Penjing, known in the West by the more broad term Bonsai, is the ancient Chinese art of depicting artistically formed trees and landscapes in miniature.
