Andrei Petrovich Ryabushkin is a Russian painter. A master of genre and historical paintings, mostly recreating the life of Moscow in the 17th century. In the 1890s, the artist painted commissioned works, drawings and watercolors for publications and albums, sketches of compositions for the proposed painting of St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod. His major historical painting during this period was Moscow Street of the 17th century on a holiday 1895. A significant role in the artists works is assigned to the Russian landscape. In the decorative solution of the canvas, Ryabushkin followed the tradition of Russian icon painting and fresco paintings. In the last years of his life, Ryabushkin became interested in creating illustrations for Russian epics and village themes. One of a kind artwork.
