An antique French finely detailed patinated cast bronze sculpture after Auguste Moreau, French, 1834 to 1917. The sculpture depicts Cupid. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. Mounted on a figural round shaped base. Signed with an etching , Aug. Moreau, on the base. Mounted on a bronze stand. The sculpture is entirely hand made, using the lost wax method. Louis Auguste Moreau born, was a French sculptor best known for his bronze cast figurines. His allegorical Art Nouveau works often depicted women, children, cherubs, and historical figures adorned with floral motifs and ornaments, and were influential to other artists working at the time. Born in Dijon, France in 1855 to a celebrated family of sculptors, including his father, Auguste Moreau, he went on to regularly exhibit his work at the Paris Salon from 1861 on.
