A pair of identical antique Japanese Meiji Period gilt bronze urn vases. Each vase has an amphora shaped body with a long neck and a flaring mouth and a base. Each ware is decorated with stylized beast handles with a scrollwork design. The necks feature a relief gilt image of a pair of Phoenix birds and flowers on the front and on the backside. The bodies are adorned with relief gilt images of birds in blossoming flowers on the front and on the backside. Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century.
