An antique American water pitcher made of super high grade 950 silver (more than sterling) by Ball, Black and Co, New York. Around the American Civil War period, 1861 to 1865. Of a traditional baluster form, featuring an oblong spout, a twisted handle and raised on a round spreading foot. The body is decorated with skilfully hand chased and floral motifs and has a monogram L on a front side. Marks: B B and CO, E and S, 925 of 1000, N. YORK.
