Presumably by Yoshu Chikanobu, 1838 to 1912, a prominent Japanese ukiyo-e artist and printmaker of the Utagawa school. Kabuki is a classical form of Japanese theatre, mixing dramatic performance with traditional dance that originated during the early Edo period. Kanadehon Chushingura is a story about loyalty and revenge in 18th-century Japan based on real historical events. Black mat, wooden frame.
