Ancient Near East region, Luristan, a finely cast bronze short sword with a blade that connects to a square-shaped guard. The long handle was designed to have an inlaid panel of wood, stone, or other natural materials. The ricasso is hand engraved with a stylized horse hooves pattern. This sword was made from lost wax casting. Features a tapering doubled edged blade. The horse hooves motif speaks to the importance of horses in Luristan society.
