A mixed media on paper painting depicting a young boy playing violin by Francois Edmond Paris, French, 1806 to 1893. The artwork includes fragments of vintage French newspapers. Apparently unsigned. Framed. One of a kind artwork. Note: Francois Edmond Paris was a French naval officer and member of the Laplace expedition which visited the California coast in 1839. While there, he painted a view of the Carmel Mission. After returning to France, he retired with the rank of admiral and was director of the Musee de la Marine where many of his paintings are held.
