A World War II Soviet and British propaganda poster. The color print depicts Marianne, the personification of French nationhood, tied up with her arms bound by her sides. Inscriptions in Russian on the right and its translation into English on the bottom: Unenviable Function, The policemen, servile, without ambition, serves his master, Adolf! Enlarging the functions of the police, he tightens the rope. This is a lithographic reproduction of an original Soviet design that was intended for English-speaking audiences.
