A pair of antique Chinese paintings on silk. Late Qing dynasty, before 1912. The artworks are full-length portraits of a man and woman against the golden background, the clothes of the portraited indicates their high status and belonging to the court circle of the Ming dynasty. This type of painting is named ancestral painting. It was a common comission in the Qing era and was created in workshops as the result of collaboration among several artists.
