An antique early 19th-century French colored woodcut print on paper. The artwork depicts an equestrian battle with Napoleon Bonaparte in the central part. Dated ca. 1815. Titled Bataille de Waterloo, the Battle of Waterloo, above. Description of the historical events in French underneath. Publishing marks in the lower left and right. Published by Imagerie Pellerin a Epinal. Design by Francois Georgin. The Battle of Waterloo was the last major battle of the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte that took place on June 18, 1815. The battle was the result of Napoleons attempt to regain power in France. Francois Georgin, 1801 to 1863, was a popular French printmaker, one of the main masters of Imagerie d Epinal, a major French printing house during the first half of the 19th century. Black frame.
