A lot of three antique 1860s Civial War era marquis posters of the Boston Theatre. Advertisements of the plays Lotta, Little Nell and the Marchioness, Foul Play, Flash of Lightning. Each poster is framed. The lot also includes a book titled Life and Art of Edwin Booth by William Winter, published by MacMillan, second edition, 1894. The Boston Theatre was a theatre on Washington Street, Boston, Massachusetts that functioned from 1854 until 1925. Edwin Thomas Booth, 1833 to 1893, was an American actor who toured throughout the United States and the major capitals of Europe. He often performed in the Boston Theatre. The Boston Theatre was managed by his brother, Junius Brutus Booth Jr., at the time. Their older brother, John Wilkes Booth, was the assassin of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. Agnes Booth, the wife of Junius Brutus, was a successful actress who also performed in the Boston Theatre, she is referred to as Mrs. J.B. Booth in the affishes in this lot.
