Lot 0319: ANCIENT CHINESE WEI ERA TERRACOTTA WARRIOR FIGURE

41 reviews

An ancient Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty hollow moulded and almost columnar shaped grey pottery terracotta tomb figure of a standing warrior man. The male figure is shown standing with his left arm holding a shield, while the right hand is supposed to hold the sword. The garment worn by the figure appears decorated with incised lines. The figure is portrayed wearing the traditional court attire, consisting of a long robe with long sleeves, flared trousers, and a pointed cap. Facial features are delicately rendered in the typical style of Northern Qi art, with incised and painted almond shaped eyes, lips and nose. Traces of the original white pigment still visible to the surface. Circa: AD 386 to 534 to 35. Museum pieces. Antique Asian Oriental Pottery Ceramic Earthen Wares For Collectors.
