An antique 18th century Russian Orthodox icon representing Virgin Mary in the Helper in Childbirth iconography. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board, gilt background and details. Mother of God holds up her hands in the orans position of prayer, Christ is shown as coming forth from her womb. Titled in Church Slavonic on the bottom.
