A very fine quality French 19th century gilt bronze tazza with enamel decoration by Frederick Barbedienne, French, 1819 to 1892. The tazza is mounted on a decorative base modeled as three mythical dolphins on a silver plated pedestal. The underside of the tazza is silvered bronze with a gilded rim. The top of the tazza features a very beautiful shaded polychrome enamel scene with flowers and birds. Signed on the underside: F. BARBEDIENNE. Note: Ferdinand Barbedienne was a French metalworker and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze founder.
