An antique Japanese Meiji Era enamel tea pot. Circa: early 20th century. The exterior of the ware is enameled with oval shaped polychrome medallions with images of butterflies on the front, and a Phoenix bird on the backside, surrounded by floral, foliage and swirl motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. The ground is inlaid with a Gold stone. The base is adorned with a cloud ornament made in the Cloisonne technique. The neck features a floral and geometrical motifs. The handle is adorned with an engraved ribbed design on a top. Mounted on three conical shaped legs. Unmarked.
