A pair of Russian Judaica Silver salt and pepper shakers. The footed base supports the figurines of Jewish musicians. The figures support a globular container with a padlock. A gemstone cabochon garnished the lid. The base of the salt shaker is made in a shape of the Star of David. Mounted on four sphere shaped legs. The design of the pieces was inspired by spice towers, special containers for spices, and herbs used by the Jewish people on Shabbath and other religious holidays. Since the 16th century, they were usually executed in the form of a tower or a house. The salt shaker is marked with a 84 standard Silver hallmark and other Cyrillic and Assay marks on the bottom. Judaica Russian Silver Table Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles. Total Weight: 105 grams.
