A pair of antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icons of Saint Alexander and of Saint Tryphon. Travel icons of miniature size. Mixed media paintings: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Each icon is enclosed in a silver riza or oklad with repousse decor. The characters iare named in Church Slavonic. Hallmark 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the side of each riza. The backside of the icons is covered with pink velvet. Russian Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.
