Lot 0312: MING SANCAI POTTERY FIGURES OF COURT ATTENDANTS

41 reviews

A pair of antique Chinese Ming Dynasty Sancai finely glazed, mainly green, and hollow moulded pottery figures of male court attendants. The figures are depicted wearing typical Ming court robes with rich folds and detailed draperies along their garments. Each figure is portrayed wearing a typical high court cap, standing on a glazed hexagonal base in a solemn and sincere pose. One of their arms naturally extends downward, the hand concealed under the edges of the flared, loose sleeves, whilst the other hand forms a tight fist in front of their chests. They have different hats. Their facial features are rendered delicately, with clearly engraved eyes and nostrils, with sensual lips painted in pinkish red pigments. The heads are made in a stopper design. Date: Circa 16th century AD. Ancient Asian and Oriental Pottery Table and Desk Wares, Figurines, Figures, Statues, Interior Design, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
