An ancient Chinese Tang Dynasty finely modelled and hand painted terracotta pottery figure of a horse. The figure is posed with one of the front legs raised and slightly thrown back onto the hind legs, as if prancing. The horse has a knotted tail and a saddle with tassels along its body, which were probably cast separately and attached to the body before being fired. The figure is adorned with a pinkish pigment. The horse stands on a rectangular shaped base. Circa: 7th to 9th Century AD.
