A lot of WWII coins were from the Litzmannstadt, or Lodz, Jewish Ghetto in Poland. A total of 6 items, one 5 marks coin, four 10 marks coins, and one 20 marks coin. Inscription in German on the recto side: Der Aelteste der Juden in Litzmannstadt Quittung, The Eldest Jewish Registration Department in Lodz Receipt. Marked with Magen David, Ghetto, 1943 on the verso side. The Lodz Ghetto or Litzmannstadt Ghetto was the second-largest Nazi ghetto in Poland. Jews in the ghetto were forced to use an internal currency that was not valid outside the settlement.
