An antique 17th-century Russian Orthodox wooden cross with depictions of Jesus Christ and God Father on the front side. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas. The cross is covered with a gilt metal riza or oklad, a protecting case with repousse decor. The characters are named in Church Slavonic. Fine detail work.
