41 reviews

Nikolai Bogdanov Belsky, Russian, 1868 to 1945, oil on canvas genre painting depicting girls in a horse-drawn carriage ruled by a boy. Signed by the artist lower left. Circa 1930s. Nikolay Petrovich Bogdanov Belsky painted mostly genre paintings, especially of the education of peasant children, portraits, and impressionistic landscape studies. His art was strongly disfavored by the Soviet Union, compelling the artist to relocate to Riga. As a result of the Soviet Occupation of the Baltic states, Bogdanov Belsky relocated to Berlin. He was killed on February 19, 1945, as a result of an allied bombing. Antique Genre Paintings And Russian Art Collectibles.
