The lot includes: first, an antique colored print showing the twite or Linaria flavirostris. Old name Fringilla flavirostris. Color etching on a verge paper. This scarce antique print originates from the Nederlandsche Vogelen, translated as Dutch birds, a five volume Dutch natural history compendium by Cornelius Nozeman and Christiaan Sepp, published in Amsterdam from 1770. It was published in installments and was finished in 1829. Second, Die gehaubte Meise translated as The crested tit, an antique color print by Johann Michael Seligmann after Mark Catesby, originally printed in Sammlung verschiedener ausländischer und seltener Vogel, 1749-1776. Third, a hand colored engraving from the A New Dictionary of Natural History by William Frederic Martyn, published by Harrison and Co., London, 1785 to 1787, Plate XLIII depicting various types of fly catchers. Fourth, Australian Spine-tailed Swallow or Acanthylis caudacuta, illustrated by Elizabeth Gould, 1804 to 1841, for John Goulds, 1804 to 1881, Birds of Australia, 1972 Edition, 8 volumes.
