Sergey Gerasimov, Russian, 1885 to 1964, oil on canvas painting depicting a couple sitting on a bench under the blossoming bush trees, titled Lilac and dated 1959 to the back. Signed lower right. Framed. With the additional information to the back. Sergey Vasilyevich Gerasimov was a Soviet painter. He taught at the state art school Vkhutemas, and designed posters and painted works sympathetic to the Communist government in a style known as Socialist realism.
