A lot of antique 18th and 19th-century prints. A total of 16 items. 11 engravings, illustration plates from the 1880 edition of the Holy Bible by John E. Potter and Co., Philadelphia, drawn by Gustave Dore, engraved and printed by the Illman brothers, each print is titled on the bottom. Two late 18th-century political caricature etchings, first by Isaac Cruikshank titled St. George and the Dragon and Mademoiselle d Eon Riposting, second by Victor Marie Picot after a painting by Alexandre-Auguste Robineau titled Mademoiselle la Chevalier d Eon de Beaumont Fencing at Carlton House, 9th Aptil 1787. Two late 18th-century portrait etching of Chevalier d Eon, first by Francis Haward and Angelica Kauffmann after Georges de Latour, second by Thomas Chamber after Richard Cosway. A late 18th-century estampe depicting Louis-Jules Mancini, duc de Nivernois. Gustave Dore, 1832 to 1883, was a French artist and printmaker. Chevalier d Eon, 1728 to 1810, was a French diplomat, spy, and soldier who appeared publicly both as a man and a woman in virtue of his androgynous features.
