A pair of antique Tekke Turkmen hand-crafted cuff armlets, known as bileziks, each decorated with four rows of table-cut semi-precious carnelians. The silver is decorated with an embossed and applied design with a thin layer of gold applied. Pieces of carnelian, a bright red colored stone, are popular because they are believed to protect the wearers from illness and death. Circa the 19th century. Total weight: 616 grams.
