Konstantin Ivanovich Gorbatov, Russian 1876 to 1945, a post-impressionist oil on paper landscape painting depicting an Italian town view. Signed by the artist and dated 1931 lower right. Gorbatov traveled throughout Europe during the late 1930s, visited Palestine and Syria in 1934 and 1935, and often came by Italy. His art became unneeded in Nazi Germany and the family soon became impoverished. He was forbidden to leave Germany during World War II and died shortly after the allied victory.
