Alexander Yevgenievich Jacovleff, or Iacovleff, Russian, 1887 to 1938, a gouache, charcoal, and sanguine on paper portrait of Mangbetou princess Nossobodru. Signed lower right in French La croisière noire Citroen 1924 1925, Femme Mangbetou congo belge, Audouin-Dubreuil, Brazzaville. Framed. Provenance: Collection Eric Deschamps. Jacovleff was a neoclassicist painter, draftsman, designer, and etcher. Between 1924 and 1925 he took part in an expedition to the Sahara desert and Equatorial Africa organized by Citroen.
