Attributed to Luigi Belletti, Italian, 1809 to 1897, oil painting on board depicting a horse. Framed. A paper label showing detailed information about the artwork in Italian on the backside.Luigi Belletti was an Italian artist, trained at the Accademia Ligustica in Genoa, he participated in the cultural life of the Ligurian capital, without ever leaving his native Sarzana. In his work, remembered for the refined sense of color and composition, evident above all in the large format canvases, he implemented a romantic choice more in thematic than stylistic sense. In 1834 he took part in the Exposition of the Ligustica Academy with Pope Nicolò V crowning Emperor Frederick III in 1452, Sarzana, Duomo, a much praised work and then reproduced with an engraving in the periodical Magazzino Pittorico Universale. In the subsequent production, portraits alternated with sacred subjects, Christ and the Baptist, exhibited in Genoa in 1837; Holy family and The blessing of the children, exhibited in Genoa in 1851, and historical subjects, Columbus in the Rabida convent, commissioned by Queen M. Cristina and exhibited in Rome in 1840; Andrea Doria who receives the title of great captain of the Church from the papal legate, exhibited at the promoters of Genoa in 1851 and 1852. One of a kind artwork.
