A collection of vintage WWII era American and French magazines. The collection includes four issues of LIllustration magazines 5049 December 1939, 5050 February 1940, 5052 Decemner 1939, 5054 March 1940; an issue of Life Magazine February 26, 1940, with a black and white photo of Josephine Powell on the cover, has 96 pages of ads and articles, Roadside Service, Car Hop, Germany destroys Poland; a Hamburger Calendar 1932. LIllustration was a weekly French newspaper published in Paris from 1843 to 1944. It was founded by Edouard Charton with the first issue published on 4 March 1843, it became the first illustrated magazine in France then, after 1906, the first in the world, distributed in 150 countries. Life was an American magazine published weekly from 1883 to 1972, as an intermittent special until 1978, and as a monthly from 1978 until 2000. During its golden age from 1936 to 1972, Life was a wide-ranging weekly general-interest magazine known for the quality of its photography.
