A Japanese Satsuma porcelain vase of baluster shape. Late Meiji period, before 1912. The hand-painted body depicts a multi-figure scene of women in traditional clothing walking on the river shore. The item is decorated with gilt accents and geometric ornaments on top. Hieroglyphical hallmark is on the bottom. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
