Max Esser, German, 1885 to 1943, Meissen porcelain statue depicting a composition with running hares, 1928. Mounted on a round shaped figural base. Marked with a blue ink manufacturer stamp, signed and dated with impressed stamps, numbered, A 1164 23, on the base. Max Esser is a German artist, known for Sculpture, animal sculptures, designer of porcelain figurines. Esser attended the teaching institute of the Kunstgewerbe museum Berlin and the Berlin Art Academy in 1900 to 1903. He studied under August Gaul, and later became his son in law.Max Esser was best known for his animal sculptures and as a designer of porcelain figurines. He received a Grand Prix for his otter in 1937 and was on the God gifted list of the most important visual artists in National Socialism in 1944.
