An antique silver plate gravy boat by Jean Despres, French, 1889 to 1980. The ware is made in a hammered texture design. Mounted on foot made in a chain link design. Signed with engraving and dated, 1966, on the bottom. Jean Despres was a French jewelry maker and designer best known for his intricate Art Deco jewelry made from semi precious stones, machine parts, and enamel. Despres aesthetics were largely inspired by his friendships with avant garde artists, including the Cubist Georges Braque.
