A Russian Neoclassical letter opener in the style of a Roman gladius sword. The blade of the piece is made of jade. The gilt silver handle is covered with red guilloche enamel, set with rubies and crystals. The handle is decorated with a double-headed eagle and topped by an elephant figure.
