A rare antique traditional African hand carved wood tribal mask from the Vuvi tribe of Gabon. The face depicts gently arching brows above thin, slit-like eyes, delicately carved nose and sensual lips. A raised band rim to the upper part of the head, remains of white pigmentation. The Vuvi live in the central region of the present day Gabon. Their art is known for their painted figures and masks.
