John Didrik Frisch, Danish, 1835 to 1867, oil on canvas painting depicting an idyllic river landscape. Housed in a gilt wooden frame. Inscribed and bearing old paper labels verso. John Didrik Frisch was born in 1835. He studied at the Copenhagen Academy where he focused on figure and genre painting. Frederik Increase, 1823 to 1910, was a close family friend and his role model. Later, Frisch concentrated on landscape painting, where he was very inspired by the region north of Copenhagen. On a tour of Zealand, he also gained further impressions of the Danish landscape. In 1867 he received a travel grant to Rome. However, on the way there he died in Florence from a typhoid-cholera infection. One of a kind artwork. Antique European Fine Art For Collectors.
