An antique golden brown patinated bronze figural group by Alfred Dubucand, French, 1828 to 1894. The figural group depicts a male and female deer standing atop a foliage covered mound, 1870. Inscribed and dated on the base. Alfred Dubucand is known for Sculpture, small scale animals, portrait bust, Arabs riding on camels. Alfred studied sculpture with Justin-Marie Lequien and Antoine Louis Barye. Alfred Dubucand is one of the representatives of romantic realism. He mainly created small scale animal bronzes, mostly depicting dogs, horses, or game. Alfred also sculpted portrait busts, and scenes with camel-riding Arabs.
