A finely hand painted Berlin KPM porcelain bust-length portrait of a young beauty after Angelo Asti, Italian, 1847 to 1903. Signed lower right: C. Crak. Dated circa 1900. Housed in a velvet matte and gilt metal easel frame. Bears scepter and KPM impressed marks and hand written inscriptions verso. The Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin abbreviated as KPM was founded in 1763 by King Frederick II of Prussia. Its actual origins, however, lie in three private enterprises which, under crown patronage, were trying to establish the production of porcelain in Berlin from the mid-18th century onwards.
