An antique late 19th-century mantel clock by The Ansonia Clock Company, a Connecticut-based clock manufacturer that was most prominent from 1860s until 1920s. The case of the clock is made of black lacquered cast iron with hand-painted golden details. The feet and the lion faces on the sides are gilt. The case is decorated with red marble insets. The round white clock face with a golden frame has Arabic numerals. Hallmark Ansonia Clock Co. A Patented June 14, 1881 and June 18, 1882, New York, USA is on the clock mechanism.
