An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Virgin Mary with Christ Child in the Korsun Mother of God iconography. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Inscription Icon of the Korsun Mother of God in Church Slavonic is in the lower part of the icon. The original Mother of God of Korsun icon was brought from Korsun, now Khersones in the Crimea, by Prince Vladimir in 988 when Russia adopted Christianity. Black wooden frame.
