Two antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icons. A wedding couple is a conventional name for a composition of two icons, the Savior and the Most Holy Mother of God, which is used during the sacrament of the wedding for blessing. Mixed media paintings: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with kovcheg. The icons are covered with 84 silver Riza or Oklad, protecting covers with repousse work.
